Description
Long cultivated in our wine region, this grape variety is what made Ménes famous. Its color is a ruby red with deeper tones than the average Kadarka. Its nose and palate offer a rich blend of spicy, wildflower, and fruity aromas.
The Kolna:
The new "KOLNA Vineyard Selection" wine family replaces our series previously known simply as "Selection." The name is of Serbo-Croatian origin, referring to a wine cellar and its adjoining press house—a space that also served as a venue for enjoying wine. During the 19th-century heyday of the Ménes wine region, nearly two thousand such *kolnas* were built across the vineyards; they held great social and cultural significance, serving not only as sites for grape processing and winemaking but also as pivotal hubs of local community life. The name KOLNA evokes the history of the wine region and its golden age, while also highlighting the power of tradition and wine culture to foster community. This wine family aims to showcase the importance of the terroir and the potential of traditional grape varieties in the Ménes region, while offering consumers a reliable, welcoming experience—much like the *kolnas* themselves did in times past.
