Description
The grapes used for this wine were grown near the Saint Donatus Chapel on Mount Csobánc. In the Badacsony wine region, the designation "Kápolnás" (Chapel-side) signified unique, outstanding quality. Styrian buyers were the first to apply this label to wines from the vicinity of the Saint Anna Chapel in Badacsony, often paying two or three times the standard price for them. The situation was no different on the southern slopes of Mount Csobánc, where the Esterházy princes and counts were the largest and most renowned producers in the immediate vicinity of the chapel for centuries.
Our "Kápolna" Olaszrizling is part of our series showcasing outstanding vineyard sites, and the variety is truly worthy of this distinction. It perfectly reflects the exceptional characteristics of the Mount Csobánc terroir. The nose is restrained, mineral-driven, and slow to open, while the flavor lingers on the palate long after tasting.
