Villa Zéta Red Selection 2020

Villa Zéta is the Mád-based guesthouse of borbolt.hu. On the small estate adjacent to the house lies a 0.2-hectare mixed vineyard of Sárgamuskotály (Yellow Muscat) and Zéta—which is also the origin of the house’s name. Depending on the vintage, we produce either *Villa Zéta Sweet* or *Sparkling* from this small plot. Wanting the house to offer more than just white wine, we sourced one barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon and one barrel of Cabernet Franc from a friend in Szekszárd—a winemaker who is wonderfully eccentric yet truly brilliant, Zsolt Dániel—and blended them together. This gave birth to *Villa Zéta Red 2020*.

The wine is an equal-parts blend of organically farmed Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Porkoláb Valley in Szekszárd. It is dense and concentrated—almost black in color. The nose is dominated by black cherry, blueberry, and blackcurrant. On the palate, it is round, long, and harmonious, evoking the character of a Mediterranean wine. Alongside the dark berry fruits, chocolate also plays a prominent role.

It benefits from being decanted for a few hours after opening.
