1814: Jean-Joseph Moreau, a cooper, founds a wine merchant company called J. Moreau et Fils in Chablis. Over time, the family managed to buy several prime Premier and Grand Cru parcels, among which the outstanding Clos des Hospices still stands out. This parcel has since been given a special place in the family portfolio.
1972: After 11 years living in Canada, Christian Moreau returns to Chablis with his Canadian wife, Christine, and their two first sons, Philippe and Patrick (Fabien was born two years later). He then begins to discover and learn the mysteries of winemaking with his father, Guy Moreau.
After selling the wine trading company in 1998, they founded Domaine Christian Moreau Pére et Fils in 2001, and in 2010, after Fabien Moreau returned from New Zealand, they started the transition to organic viticulture. The first completely organic vintage was bottled in 2013.
Today, it is one of the most outstanding Chablis producers in terms of both quality and value for money.
