Verdejo

A Spanish variety found mainly in Rioja. It is usually found in blends based mainly on local varieties. Traditional white Rioja receives long ageing in American oak barrels, resulting in a deep golden wine with unique hazelnut flavours. Modern whites produced in stainless steel are bottled young. They are generally decidedly fruity with bright citrus acidity.
