Description
Kreuzberg is a single vineyard located on the southern bank of the Danube in Rossatz; it is semicircular in shape, with slopes facing both east and west. Its climate and soil are influenced by the transition into the Dunkelsteiner Forest.
The terroir is characterized by a complex of paragneiss and amphibolite rock, as well as cool katabatic winds that create significant temperature fluctuations between day and night.
Kreuzberg wines are exceptionally deep and elegant. They are medium-bodied with vibrant acidity, harmonious and juicy, featuring a fruity and spicy finish.
Typical aromas include wildflowers, white pepper, and hazelnut. As a classic Grüner Veltliner Federspiel, it is balanced, harmonious, and very refreshing. The name "Federspiel" originates from the sport of falconry, which was once very popular in the Wachau region; the falcon symbol represents the refined elegance of these dry white wines.
Best served chilled at 10–11°C, it is a perfect accompaniment to traditional Austrian cuisine—such as roasted veal kidneys or succulent fried chicken—as well as Mediterranean dishes like *spaghetti alle vongole* and sea bass baked in a salt crust.
This structured, elegant wine also pairs well with Far Eastern cuisine, such as the Vietnamese dish *Ca Kho To* (braised and caramelized fish).
