Grand Tokaj
As the largest state-owned winery in the Tokay wine region (formerly Tokaj-Hegyalja), Grand Tokaj Zrt is a custodian and defender of national wine traditions. The Tolcsva-based winery boasting its own 54 hectares of vineyards is the largest player in the wine region, accounting for more than 30% of the wine regions total production. As an integrator in the region, it buys grapes from almost 1,200 small producers on about 1,050 hectares of production area. Their wines have been made under the supervision of Károly Áts since 2013, while István Balassa is responsible for the viticulture work.
