Mazzei

The Mazzei family name is synonymous with Tuscan winemaking: the word "Chianti" appeared in a document written by Ser Lapo Mazzei in 1398, and the estate has been in the family since 1435. Today, the 24th generation manages the 650-hectare Castello di Fonterutoli, Belguardo in Maremma, and Zisola estates in Sicily. The grape varieties include Sangiovese, Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Nero d'Avola, Vermentino, and Grillo. Hand harvesting, processing by plot and a combination of traditions make their wines truly special. The strength of Mazzei wines lies in their rich fruitiness and firm tannin balance, which ensures long aging potential.
