Description
Just the way we love Chablis: finely tuned and elegant, with floral aromas, good acidity, ample minerality, and that essential flinty character.
In 1720, the Protheau family—owners of the Château d'Etroyes—began cultivating vines on their lands in Mercurey. Over the years, the estate expanded from one generation to the next. At the turn of the last century—specifically in 1900—François Protheau, heir to this long line of winegrowers, sensed the dawn of a new era of prosperity following the difficult post-phylloxera period, during which French vineyards had struggled to recover. It was then that he decided to launch a new complementary venture as a wine merchant, founding Maison Protheau. He established the business at the Château d'Etroyes, a property that had once belonged to his family.
