Description
This Crémant is made from Chardonnay grown on parcels near Montreuil-Bellay owned by the Grenelle Estate. The soils are predominantly limestone with a high flint content, on which the approximately 25 year-old vines produce grapes with a remarkably expressive aromatic profile. Hand harvesting is followed by pneumatic pressing, then fermentation with selected yeasts under temperature controlled conditions at 15°C. Aging takes place on the lees, without the addition of sulfur, in 60-hectoliter oak barrels, during which malolactic fermentation also occurs.
On the nose, it reveals a wide spectrum of aromas, while the palate is creamy and dense, filled with notes of almond, fresh coffee, and caramel.
