Description
It is named after the three grape varieties involved in the blend. Cabernet Franc is grown in Montreuil-Bellay (limestone-blue flint soil), Pinot Noir in St Jean des Mouvrets (slate-quartz soil), and Pinot d'aunis in Brissac-Quince (marly gaulconite soil). The average age of the vines is around 20 years. After the hand harvest, the grapes were pneumatically pressed and fermented at 15°C with special yeasts. The wine was kept on fine lees for almost the entire maturation process, only being filtered two weeks before bottling. The result of several months of bottle aging is an explosively fruity brut nature sparkling wine. Elegant red fruit aromas appear on the nose, and when tasted, their creaminess and structure are revealed. In the heart of the Loire Valley, in the Saumur region, in the depths of old tufa quarries, the champagnes of the Louis de Grenelle family winery acquire their final, particularly unique taste. The winery, founded in 1859, is still family-owned, and its current manager is Françoise Flao, who, together with her brother Antoine Bodet, also owns the cellar with a rich past. The family's 40-hectare estate called La Durandière grows three varieties of grapes: Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. By combining tradition and the latest technologies in the cultivation, processing and production of grapes, they are able to continuously ensure the famously high quality of their champagnes.
