Alfred Gratien

The Alfred Gratien Champagne house was founded in 1864 in the city of Epernay and has been producing its excellent champagnes using a traditional method ever since. One of the house’s specialties is that the first fermentation is carried out in oak barrels – a rarity in champagne production – which gives the batches complexity and maturity. The annual production is around 250,000 bottles, and their main grape varieties are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The house does not use malolactic fermentation, which means their champagnes are fresh, have a lively acidity and are long-lasting.
