Weninger Winery
The Weninger family name became known in Hungary when they established a 12-hectare joint venture with Attila Gere in 1992. This was followed in 1997 by their purchase of their wines in Balf, in the Sopron wine region. This part of the estate has been managed by Weningers son Franz Reinhard Weininger. Now the reins of the organically farmed vineyards in both Central Burgenland and Sopron, covering 25 hectares, are also in the hands of Franz Jr. Some white wine is also made, but Kékfrankos is by far the most dominant variety, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
