Áts Winery

Winemaker Károly Áts is one of the best-known figures in the Tokaj wine region. He was the chief winemaker at Royal Tokaji for a long time and in 2012 won the title of Wine Producer of the Year while here, also receiving 100 points from Wine & Spirits magazine for the 1999 Esszencia. Since 2013, however, he has been bolstering Grand Tokaj as well as making wines in his own family winery. He has a 3.5-hectare estate, but also buys grapes from a further 3 hectares. The late harvest Áts cuvée made the winemaker’s name, so it is now made in the family business. The estate’s range also includes a Furmint and a single-vineyard Furmint from Szent Tamás. His daughter also supports him on the estate. Annual production is 12,000 bottles.
