Primitivo
The Italian equivalent of Zinfandel. It also tends to overripeness in Italy but is less oily in texture with more emphasis on tannins. In the right hands, it produces beautiful wines, but in the wrong ones, it can be a very rough, rugged, rather rustic southern-style wine.
