Tamás Gere

The family winery was started in the late ‘80s by Tamás Gere, who recognising the market situation, as well as learning all about winemaking, started getting involved with viticulture. As a member of the Villány Five, Tamás was one of the first to engage in commercial winemaking, helping to establish the Villány wine region’s current reputation. Wine region: Villány Winemaker: Tamás Gere Estate size: 35 ha Main varieties: Olaszrizling, Hárslevelű, Portugieser, Kékfrankos, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot, Kadarka Winemaking/technology: Increasingly 500-litre barrels, mainly Hungarian oak, but also French and American Annual production: 250-300,000 bottles.
