Schieber Winery

The Schieber Winery is in the Szekszárd wine region, with vines in the excellent terroir of the Baranya-völgy and Görögszó vineyards. Markus Schieber and his wife Anita Schieber-Horváth’s family winery is 54 hectares. As well as the traditional terrace cultivation typical to the wine region, they also work with hill-valley row orientation. The varieties typical to the wine region, Kékfrankos and Kadarka, are planted on the upper, warmer, sunnier slopes, but they also cultivate important international varieties like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. White varieties, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are planted in lower-lying areas. Wine region: Szekszárd Winemaker: József Rappay Estate size: 54 ha Main vineyards: Baranya-völgy and Görögszó dűlő Main varieties: Kadarka, Kékfrankos, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc Winemaking/technology: The cultivation of the white grape varieties is highly mechanised, while the black grapes are hand-harvested.
