Szerémi Zöld

Although its origin is uncertain, its name suggests it originated in Szerémség, although it was also widely cultivated in various regions of historical Hungary (e.g. Bihar and Arad counties and the Great Plain). It almost disappeared after phylloxera although it was considered one of the best white grapes. It yields a juicy wine with lovely aromas and bright acidity. Many thought it was the same as Viognier, but this has not been proven. Primarily Oszkár Maurer makes wine from it nowadays.
