Mihály Liszkay

After spending decades abroad, Mihály Liszkay returned home in the early 2000s and bought today’s estate centre in Monoszló. He was not even thinking of growing grapes at that point. However, the excellent attributes of the area between the Balatonfüred-Csopak and Balaton Highlands wine regions marked out his future path. Contrary to custom after phylloxera, the owner dreamed of planting black varieties in the Pangyér vineyard, whose landscape is reminiscent of Tuscany. Now, he cultivates Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a little Pinot Gris. The Liszkay wine evenings are atmospheric, as the winemaker is also an excellent pianist. Wine region: Balatonfüred-Csopak Soil/rock: limestone, clayey, volcanic debris Estate size: 10 ha Main vineyards: Pangyér-dűlő Main varieties: Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
