Carmenere

Carmenere is a variety of Bordeaux origin, although it has not been grown there for over 100 years and had long been thought extinct. However, Carmenere vineyards were found in Chile in the 1990s. Carmenere has rich, spicy flavours and its wines are generally riper than those produced from Merlot.
