The Loire Valley is a complex wine region, divided into several distinct areas. There is a wide range of varieties, soils and climates. The most famous appellations are Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, which are world famous for their gooseberry-flavoured, flinty Sauvignon Blanc.
