Description
The winery's only Syrah, the latest vintage of which is now on sale, shows less affinity with the Australian Shiraz trend, and more hints of French inspiration. The grapes come from the flat Ingeborg vineyard, in the eastern, warmer climate of the Santa Ynez AVA. 100% Syrah wine from river gravel-covered, sandy-clay subsoil. Harvested in early September, hand-picked and berryed, then cold-soaked. Matured in 80% one-year-old French and 20% Hungarian oak barrels for 28 months. Bottled without filtration. The aromas are blackberry, roasted chestnut, pine resin, smoked meat and of course a good dose of California sunshine.
