Description

"Kapi Vineyard" is located in the upper third of the southern-facing Kapi vineyard of Dizznókő, at an altitude of about 150-180 meters above sea level. Its soil is somewhat lighter than that of the other areas of the estate: the volcanic clay soil mixed with layers of loess and rhyolite debris is particularly rich in minerals, and this, together with the geographical location and location of the vineyard, makes this assu specialty uniquely rare. The wine is entirely made from furmint, the noblest variety of the wine region, which perhaps most clearly reflects the characteristics of the region. Furmint's late-ripening berries turn sour easily, while retaining their fresh acid structure. The year 2017 brought rich wines and a good quantity, which was a really pleasant surprise after the growing season exposed to changeable and extreme weather conditions. After a very cold January, mild spring winds, and then cooling down again, the summer weather was very changeable, dry, hot periods were often followed by heavy showers. The grapes ripened earlier than usual, noble mold settled on the already fully ripe berries and developed intensively, giving black grapes thickly interwoven with botrytis, with a creamy composition and beautiful aromas. We selected the aszu grains in 3 phases, between September 27 and October 21. The aszu grains were richly interwoven with botrytis and had a creamy composition. The aszu grains, sorted by grain, were stored in stainless steel tubs until they were processed. The grapes used for the base wine were picked at the end of September, and the bunches used for the base must on October 20. We started the maceration of the aszu grains on November 6th, 40% of which were soaked in noisily fermenting must for 2 days without crushing, the rest of the aszu grains were soaked in the wine at the end of fermentation for 12 hours. After the long pressing, it was fermented in stainless steel tanks and partially in small barrels until mid-December. The wine was aged for 2 years in 225-liter oak barrels, 25% of which were new Hungarian oak barrels. We bottled it in July 2020. 5172 bottles were made of the wine. Tasting note (May 2022): Revealing golden color. Its aroma is floral, acacia, followed by notes of fresh fruits, pineapple and vanilla. In the mouth, it is rich, with fine acids, lively and silky at the same time, concentrated and airy. It fills the mouth completely, with an excellent structure and a clean, spicy finish. Analysis: Alcohol: 12.36 % Residual sugar: 164 g/l Total acid: 7.32 g/lph: 3.2
